Neem Cake (Flakes / Powder / Pellets)
- Neem Cake is a plant residue derived after extraction of oil from the neem seeds.
- Comprises of natural plant nutrients like Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium.
- It is bio-degradable and non-harmful to beneficial soil organisms (earthworms)
- It improves soil texture, soil aeration and water holding capacity.
Neem Cake has dual properties of both fertilizer and pest repellent. Organic matter in the neem cake enriches the soil acting as a fertilizer, whereas Azadirachtin content in the neem cake make a pest repellent due it its bitterness.
Neem Cake is ploughed into the soil so it protects the plant roots from nematodes and white ants and on other hand improving the fertility of the soil. Neem Cake also reduce the alkalinity in the soil by producing organic acids on decomposition.
Neem Cake inhibits nitrification and thus makes a large amount of nitrogen available to crops over a longer period of time.
It also contains other micro nutrients like calcium, magnesium, sulphur, iron, zinc, copper, etc.

- Deep ploughing and thoroughly mixing neem cake with soil gives better results than its application on soil surface to fight against root-knot nematodes.
- For better result mix the neem cake with soil atleast 2 weeks prior to plantation.
- Neem cake when mixed with soil/manure around the roots of plants and vegetables will makes the soil more receptive to nutrient uptake and have a remarkable result in the improvement of the plant immunity.
